Launched in 2004 by Australian designers Matthew Butler and Helen Punton, Zaishu Design Studio uses furniture design to celebrate culture and foster social unity. Their Zaishu seat/table, inspired by the slotted wood beams found in Japanese Buddhist temples, is designed using five interconnecting panels. Instigating a global art movement, the studio has collaborated with Indian sign-writers, graffiti artists, tribal artists and school children in the creation of Zaishu's ornately designed hand-painted and silk-screened panels.

Jaime Hayón is a Madrid artist-designer who instinctively blurs the lines between art, decoration and design. His Showtime Collection for BD Barcelona is inspired by classical MGM musicals and merges organic forms with classical details. Comprised of innovative material combinations, such as leather and plastic, these off-beat pieces have garnered quite the cult following among design aficionados. Jaime's introduction of Lounger, an elegant monochromatic wing chair, completes his Showtime collection for BD.
