Founded by Todd and Meg van der Kruik, Union Eighteen is a California design studio that is focused on creating sustainable products through recycling and reuse of discarded source materials. Their striped RAW rugs are the culmination of hours spent sifting through manufacturing waste and searching for the perfect carpet remnants. Once found, each remnant piece is gathered, grouped and assembled in Union Eighteen trademark fashion; creating an extraordinarily unique rug that is greater than the sum of its parts.

JAB Anstoetz, a German company, utilizes only the finest New Zealand wools in the production of their modern handmade rugs. Their LASA carpet is made from a felted New Zealand merino wool that implores an especially thick core yarn. This yarn has a very clear-cut surface which closes off the dark yarn core from the colorful sheath. For a more casual look, JAB Anstoetz offers their LEM carpet. This area rug is made from a knitted cord and features a very long pile from knitting yarn that falls over a ground of short New Zealand wool.
