POP Form-Pressed Plywood Ceiling Panels by Jaana Ylitalo

Manufactured in Finland by BRAIN.WOOD, POP was developed by Jaana Ylitalo while she was studying industrial design at Helsinki University of Arts and Crafts. POP is a three-dimensional form pressed plywood panel system that is available in light birch, warm cherry, rich walnut and acoustical cork veneers. The wood veneer panels are laminated with a clear matte film for increased durability and ease of cleaning. To create those perfectly tailored edges, concealed aluminum fittings are utilized in the mounting of each plywood panel.

Charlotte Square's Decorative Plasterwork Ceilings Restored by Geoffry Preston

Charlotte Square is a city square in Edinburgh, Scotland that was designed in 1791 by Scottish architect Robert Adam. Like many of the buildings built during this period, Charlotte Square found itself slowly slipping into decline. In 2004, Geoffrey Preston was commisioned by Walter Scott to restore and install new decorative plasterwork ceilings based on Adam's original designs. With an amazing eye for detail, Geoffrey Preston is regarded as one of the UK’s leading architectural sculptors specializing in decorative plasterwork for interiors.

Hand Hewn Barn Beams by Reclaimed Antique Woods

Reclaimed Antique Woods specializes in reclaiming antique beams from historical structures found all over North America. Aged between 100 and 200 years old, these hand hewn and rough sawn beams are pulled from barns, factories and warehouses. Created during a time when saw mills did not exist, hand hewn beams are highly coveted by wood connoisseurs because they exhibit the original traces of every axe cut. Similarly, rough sawn beams were sawn by water powered saws and display the original circular saw marks.

Colorful Acoustic Panels and Ceiling Clouds by Texaa

Texaa Stereo Acoustic Panels at Restaurant of the University Paris Dauphine by Beguin & Macchini architects

Very rarely, if ever, are spaces designed intentionally to have acoustical reverberation. Perhaps this gives a little insight as to why Texaa's Stereo Collection is so popular with architects and designers. Stereo utilizes a technique known as "object-based noise control" to reduce acoustical reverberation by the strategic placement of sound absorptive elements within a space. The effectiveness of these elements is dependent upon a proprietary knit fabric, called Aeria, that is both permeable to sound waves and vibrantly colorful.

Printed Barrisol and Barrisol Lumière by W Architects PTE Ltd for the Peranakan Museum

Used extensively throughout Europe, Barrisol stretch ceilings are comprised of a lightweight stretch polymer membrane that is both recyclable and anti-microbial. This ceiling system is the perfect acoustical solution for renovation projects because of its ability to be installed over existing ceiling conditions. But perhaps Barrisol's most impressive feature is the creation of incredible luminous atmospheres when integrated with luminaries. The ethereal aesthetic it produces when back-lit is simply spectacular.
